When is the best time to photograph a new baby?
Cindy Harter Photography prefers to do a newborn session in the first ten days after birth. After the first two weeks of their life they become a lot more alert and active. Preemie babies have a longer window of time to be photographed and still be able to achieve the newborn look and feel of a session. Cindy can photograph older babies but you may not have the same look and feel as the babies you see on the website as most of these babies are under two weeks old.
When should I book my newborn session?
The best time to book your newborn session is in the last trimester of your pregnancy. The studio has a limited amount of babies we can photograph each month. If you just had your baby it is totally fine to check in and see if we can make room for your baby.
How long is a typical Newborn session?
Most newborn sessions typically take 2-3 hours. These sessions are not rushed and there can be lots of starting and stopping to keep baby fed and clean and comfortable.
Do I need to bring anything to my session?
The studio has many wraps, blankets, and props to use during your session and things are being added all the time. There is no need to bring anything with you but if there is a special blanket, toy or prop feel free to let us know and we will make arrangements to include that in your gallery of imagery.
Do you include sibling or family pics in the Newborn session?
Yes, the last 30 minutes of the newborn session are set aside to include a few mom/baby, dad/baby, whole family and sibling shots.
How do you pose the baby? Will my baby be comfortable during the session?
Safety and keeping your baby comfy is so important. Cindy has years of experience with babies and allows the baby to lead in what is most comfortable position for your baby. The studio is kept at a warm temperature to ensure your baby is comfy during your session.
What is the difference between a at home session and a studio session?
An at home session is shot in your home and is a lifestyle session. No props or specific sets will be set up for your baby. The camera will document your first few days in your home doing what you do with your baby in the nursery, living room or your bedroom. A studio session has props and unique sets designed just for your baby. Cindy goes into the studio and goes deep into thought about your baby and those thoughts inspire the creating of sets and nests that are made with only your baby in mind. We will create art together in the most comfortable safe space.
